Question by Jessica E: Any Veterinarians that know about hair reduction syndrome in deer?
Hello I reside in in the country in the pacific northwest and in our yard we have deer that come and feed off shrubs and mineral blocks. We have noticed that a deer has been getting rid of its fur and and its caused by the hair reduction syndrome. How would you take care of a wild animal and how much would it expense?

Hair loss in deer is induced by lice.

i doubt it would be legal for you to treat wildlife. and deer are so common, i doubt the authorities would treat them. You could contact the department of natural rescourses or fish and game or whatever washington state calls their department that handles wildlife.
