The reason for taking vitamins while on birth control is because oral contraceptives deplete many important nutrients. Some of the nutrients depleted by oral contraceptives are extremely important for healthy hair growth. This includes zinc, B vitamins, vitamin c, selenium, magnesium and more. Vitamin depletion is not the only reason that oral contraceptives cause hair loss in some people. It is also due to the hormonal manipulation and the subsequent physiological changes. One has no way of predicting how the pill will effect them until it is in the system for several months. Sometimes the pill will help a hair loss problem and other times it will cause a hair loss problem. Unfortunately when birth control starts the hair loss process, it can take more than just getting off or changing pills to reverse the process. For some women it becomes a vicious cycle of starting, stopping and changing pills. If you really don’t want to be on the pill anymore that may be your body’s way of telling you it’s not right for you???? If you go on the new pill and take vitamins (it doesn’t have to be prenatal) I hope it works for you. You can also try using essential oil scalp treatments to stimulate new growth and keep hair growing healthy. More info in the link below.
