Holy high dosage oral and intrathecal methotrexate hair loss, batman!?

Question by Andrew: Holy substantial dosage oral and intrathecal methotrexate hair reduction, batman!?
First of all, i’m 19/male.

I’ve been on methotrexate for nearly two several years or so, my oral dosage is 60mg when a 7 days and each 3 months I get it shot into my spine. I am practically done with the complete therapy. There is heading to be an obvious correlation between the dosage and side outcomes, but mainly i seen the hair decline since every single time they upped the dose my hair would get a small thinner on my head and my eyebrows are thinner than they utilized to be, as far as my head hair goes it unusually only impacts the sides and entrance primarily and its been a sluggish, progressive thinning.

I just want to know if mtx kills the hair follicles in your eyebrows/head completely or is it just temporary and will increase again in.

Thanks

Hair loss is not uncommon with Methotrexate, especially with larger doses like you are taking. Methotrexate does not damage the hair follicle and leads to hair decline in a distinct method. Folic acid or Folinic acid can be given to lessen the hair loss and other facet consequences of Methotrexate, but you are probably already using this. The hair reduction will reverse if Methotrexate is discontinued, but it could consider months to months to get back your prior hair thickness.
