Save your money instead of buying hair growth products or supplements. Vogue Dec. 2010, Vogue Feb. 2011 issue has a section on biotin, supplements, fish oil, etc. . Fish oil for example: Read the labels if they state that it contains: “one or more of the following: Cod, English Whiting, Shark.”

The FDA don’t even approve of them. Because of inadequate quality control and inspection, supplements contaminated with heavy metals, pesticides, or prescription drugs have been sold to unsuspecting consumers. And FDA rules covering manufacturing quality donā€™t apply to the companies that supply herbs, vitamins, and other raw ingredients.
Beginning in February 2008, they experienced one symptom after another: diarrhea, joint pain, hair loss, lung problems, and fingernails and toenails that fell off. Best advice from Hollywood’s well known hairstylist in the 80’s once said: “Keep foods in your mouth and hair products on your hair.”

If you’ve straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.
Google: “Foods for Healthy Hair” – the website had moved, type it in.
Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don’t expect to look like you’ve stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you’ve changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results.
Growing healthy hair doesn’t come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you’re in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you’re eating healthy foods. But when hair isn’t growing as fast, it’s because they’ve been tempered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

Cutting your split ends yourself, spend 5-10 mins. on a sunny day so you can easily spot them, using a 2″ scissors, cut strand by strand, section by section, allowing new growth to take over. Then 2x a year, get a good hair cut. This won’t speed things up, but it will make the hair look healthier while it’s growing. Even healthy hair like mine get them, due to normal brushing & styling.

I know hair. I have over 4 decades of hair know-how. I have silky, shiny, soft, smooth very healthy hair down to my knees, started growing them in 2003. Previously damaged by perming & dyeing in the 80’s & 90’s. I’ve known people in their 30’s whose hair stopped growing from ironing their hair in the 70’s. When I was in HS, my hair grew from bob to waist length in 3 1/2 to 4 years, and cut 2x a year.

i’m actually really lucky and my hair grows fast but i noticed drinking lots of water and vitamins always have helped. people say to take vitamins specific for hair growth and i think they do kinndaa help, but my close friend told me it made her hair grow more eeeverywhere… yeahhh haha. also avoid frequently using heat. oil treatments help strengthen hair so hopefully that will also help its growth. but i hope i kinda helped:)

  3. Prenatal vitamins or GNC sells a vitamin called ultra nourishair. It really works! But it will still feel slow to you.. Hair grows about 6 inches a year, or a half an inch a month. If your hair is growing much slower than that, you should analyze your protein intake and h2o stat. Also, certain medical issues such as a thyroid problem could be a culprit. Slowed hormones can also impact hair growth. Good luck!

Try a vitamin called biotin it will help your skin, nails, and especially hair. When it grows out try slightly layered at the bottom with longgg side bangs.

  5. to grow waist length?? i did the EXACT same thing as you because my mother convinced me that it was a good idea to chop all my hair off. now ive spent 3 years growing it out and its pretty much to my waist. so it should take about 3 years at least. just be patient and dont do any major hair trims. also mane n tail works really well for growing hair, ive heard. also eat nuts because those are good for your hair. good luck!!
