I’ve only been taking these Biotin supplements for 2 1/2 weeks, but I can already tell a difference. The last year or so, I’ve noticed that my hair is thinning in the front, and it’s gotten worse the last few months as I’ve started perimenopause. I’ve also had two nails that are splitting/peeling, and I haven’t been able to grow them out or do anything to stop the splitting. I bought the Biotin to help with these two problems, and so far it’s already making a difference.

While it’s still too soon to notice any difference in the thickness of my hair, my splitting/peeling nails have already grown out to the point where they are no longer splitting. In fact, the top layer of the nail that was separating from the rest of the nail seems to be more “fused” in place. My nails also feel harder and stronger, and almost brighter.

Additionally, I’ve also noticed that both my eyelashes and my eyebrows have gotten longer. When I was curling my eyelashes the other day, they came past the place on the eyelash curler where they usually end; I’ve also had to tweeze my brows a bit more.

At this rate, I’m very happy with this product since it has had noticeable results. Like I said, I haven’t noticed too much difference in the front of my hair, but I know that that is because it is still early in the process and it can take several months to have noticeable hair growth.

It sort of snuck up on me, too, how quickly this was working. The other day, I glanced down and was surprised to see that my nail was no longer splitting. I wasn’t expecting such quick results, and was pleasantly surprised. Since I have seen results with my nails, eyelashes, and eyebrows, however, I know that this is working already, and I can’t wait to see continued results with my hair.

UPDATE ON 3/2/10: I’ve been taking these Biotin tablets now for about two months, and notice a definite difference in my hair and nails. The front of my hair has started filling in, and my hair is much thicker in those places where I had noticed some hair loss. My nails are also growing really quickly, and they are strong, with no more cracking or peeling.

I’m a 30 year old guy and started losing my hair in my late 20’s. Luckily it was very thick to begin with and progression was tolerable. But of course, insecurity is a pain and I started to worry about losing it too quickly. I had looked at products like Rogain (or generics due to cost), saw palmetto, and had been using a biotin shampoo (both the Jason and Avalon products). I’m losing my hair around my temples in a receding hair line. Apparently that’s not Rogain’s cup of tea – plus the cost is a little steep. Saw Palmetto works by shrinking the prostate and slowing down testosterone production in some complicated way I don’t really understand – bottom line: men were complaining about growing and tender breasts. I’m already losing my hair. I don’t need a couple of sore b-cups to boot. Lastly, the biotin shampoos were really hard to measure their efficacy – which was done by looking at my hands after shampooing to see how many loose hairs were stuck to them. Some days it would be zero, other days it looked like a small animal living in my palms. My mom recommended biotin supplements. She had some major surgeries a few years back and all the meds caused some hair loss. She had significant improvement by taking a supplement that had biotin. I’m now almost finished with the first bottle (120 vcaps) and have been taking one a day. It took 4-5 weeks to really see a difference, but it’s staggering how much my hair has improved. I consistently have zero hairs stuck to my hands when I shampoo. It’s thickened in other places I didn’t realize it had thinned and breaks much much less than it used to. My girlfriend even commented on my eye lashes. I have one complaint however. My eye brows have freaked out a little and my beard is even tougher than before (make that two complaints). My eye brows now require semi-regular maintenance for fear they might grow in a complete circle around my eyes… I had compared several brands and chose the Now Foods brand due to cost and satisfied use of prior products. I’ve shopped around and have really not found a better price for this or any other similar product. I’ve heard of people who claim that biotin has helped them regrow hair. I haven’t had that experience, but nonetheless I’m happy.
